How do we work?

Conversation with a child

MOCny,child or young person participating in the program, and PoMOCny, i.e. a volunteer, talk every week for an hour via videoconference. PoMOCny builds relationships with the child, is able to listen to what they have to say, and inspires them to take actions for the good of themselves and those around them.

Letter of Power

Children who want to take part in the Program prepare their Power Letter in which they answer the following questions:

  • What are you dreaming about?

  • What are you good at? What could you give to others from yourself?

  • What do you like doing in your spare time?

  • Who would you like to become in the future?

  • What do you expect from this Program?

  • Would you like to add something from yourself?

The function of the Power Letter is to select a volunteer for the child whose interests, life experiences or career path will match the child's interests. In addition, the Letter of Power is intended to support the child's self-esteem development and to help determine her/his predispositions.

Discussion Club

During one meeting a month, instead of a conversation between a volunteer and a child, the Program supervisor at the school/educational facility organizes a Discussion Club for the Strong. During the Club meeting, children exchange experiences from the Program and plan an event that they will organize together for the school or local community (see below) as part of the Edition.

Power Day

As part of the MOC Edition, members from one school/educational center can organize a project for the school or local community, the so-called Power Day. The Program Supervisor supervises the organization and decides whether the idea proposed by the children can be implemented. It is crucial that children can use their strengths during the project and that the implementation brings them joy. During conversations with children, volunteers motivate them to implement the project and help them find solutions to emerging difficulties. For example, an undertaking may be organizing a charity match at a school or care facility, organizing a festival, showing a film, inviting an interesting person to a lecture, an event publicizing an issue important to children in their local environment (e.g. lack of a playing field), etc. Due to the need for significant involvement of the Program supervisor in the implementation of this activity, taking it is optional and depends on the capabilities of the Program supervisor.

Live meeting

Once or twice a year (before the start of the holidays or around Christmas) there is a live meeting of children and volunteers. Depending on the possibilities, a general meeting is organized for all participants, several meetings bringing together schools/care facilities from a given region, or in each school/care facility separately. The meeting is divided into an individual part for the child volunteer and a common part for all participants. During the common part, MOCni have a meeting with an interesting person - a leader from their local community.

Contact with graduates

The aim of the program is to accompany children-graduates even after their completion. For this purpose, children-graduates of MOCne PoMOCne are invited every year to participate in a live meeting. Whenever possible, the child-graduate volunteer also participates in it, but regardless of his/her participation, the graduate has the opportunity to meet inspiring people and talk to other graduates of the program. The graduate talks about his experiences in the program and plays the role of a Helper for the duration of the meeting
